Infant Mortality in Kent County

In Kent County there is a significant disparity in the rates of infant mortality among white infants and African American infants. The rate of infant mortality among black infants is two-and-a-half to three times the rate for white infants. Reducing this and other racial health disparities is a primary objective of Healthy People 2010, the national health promotion program on which Healthy Kent is based. Eliminating the racial disparity in infant mortality in Kent County is the stated goal of the Healthy Kent 2010 Infant Health Implementation Team.

Kent County data on infant mortality is reported to the community twice annually by the Kent County Health Department, in the annual health status report, and in the annual Community HealthWatch report card on infant health.
