What is Infant Mortality? |
Infant mortality is considered any death of an infant prior to their first birthday. Infant mortality is based on matched birth and death certificates. In other words, in order for there to be an infant death, the infant must have been issued a birth certificate. Late term miscarriages and other fetal deaths (deaths prior to delivery of a live infant) are not reflected in the infant mortality rates. |
